“O Lord, You have examined my heart and know everything about me. You know my thoughts even when I am far away. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too great for me to understand” – Psalm 139:1-2, 6.
If your purpose of life is the creation of happiness and the avoidance of pain for you and those within your sphere of influence, then as early as possible in your lives you should be focussed on living life well. Indeed, an example of this philosophy, is the mission of a holistic health company in Western Australia, “Body Mind & Soul – Live Life Well” which is to “inspire and educate people in the rejuvenation of their Body, enrichment of their Mind, and nourishment of their Soul and to encourage them to Live Life Well through the holistic integration of health, lifestyle and beauty”.
To quote from Bob Proctor, the business consultant and personal development coach, in an article entitled “Helping Others Feel Better” – “You automatically like people who cause you to feel good. It would necessarily follow, therefore, that others will like you when you cause them to feel good, or when you move them into a more positive vibration”.
“Vibratory control of the body, mind and soul of a person gives you a means for the restoration of positive vibrations, through the medium of resonant electric waves of the brain cells, from you to another person… the human body, including the brain, is a high-powered electrical instrument. Therefore, you are a veritable “broadcasting station,” relative to other people. When the “tune in” between you and them has been completed, or when the composite personality has been established between you and the other person, the other person receives and becomes conscious of the vibrating thought which is being broadcast by you”.
Whenever I am asked “how are you” my spontaneous response is “Superb, thank you”. I find it helps me to tune into the person who is making the enquiry whether the motivation is polite exchange or genuine interest in my welfare. Here is an interesting set of observations I have made over the last few months at the branch of a bank at which I am a regular customer. One morning I was greeted by a teller as I approached the counter “Mr. Springer, How are you?” My response was with unrelenting cheer: “I am superb and how are you?” The teller’s response was “Wow! I am good, thanks”. I asked her again “How are you”. She looked up in amazement and said “I said I am good”. I asked her a third time “How are you?” Then she looked up, this time in disbelief, only to witness the upward motioning of my hands to step up the response. Then she got the message and blurted out “I am superb” and her otherwise sombre appearance broke out into a big smile.
Over the next several weeks I repeated the process on my many visits to the branch and now all of the female teller staff have been recipients of my cheer. The impact has been uniformly to the extent that before I can ask them “How are you?” they volunteer “Mr. Springer, I am superb!” with the accompanying engaging smile which now involuntarily accompanies the greeting. Sometimes they reach over from the neighbouring teller booth to greet me. I have become a veritable “broadcasting station,” relative to the female tellers in that branch. They have been moved into a more positive vibration.
Heartiest congratulations to Lalu Vaswani on assuming the Presidency of the Barbados Chamber of Commerce and Industry last Wednesday. I am confident that, based on the foundation that he has laid in that organisation over the past three to four years, the BCCI will benefit significantly from his leadership over the next two years building on the excellent foundation of his predecessors.
I look forward to significant growth and development in the private sector as we seek innovative ways of emerging from the impact of the global recession including a dynamic entrepreneurial thrust led by the CBET Shepherding Model™. Lalu’s response to my personal congratulatory message has endorsed the memory of our close business interaction over the years as an individual with the ability to exude positive vibrations.
Last week I read an article entitled “Harmonizing with the Universe – The Benefits of Singing” by Madisyn Taylor. It begins as follows: “The act of singing is one of the easiest ways of raising the vibration of your body as you harmonize with the universe. Singing is an act of vibration. It takes music from the realm of the unformed– whether that is in your mind or from that magical space of inspiration–and moves it from within to without…” There can be no wonder, because of the impact of her signing on the external environment, why I am writing this column to the background music of the late Whitney Houston singing “One Moment in Time”.
Today my mother, Rita Springer SCM, celebrates her 98th birthday. She recognises people around her and hears and understands much of what is going on. However, several strokes and transient ischemic attacks over the last six years have deprived her of the free movement of most of her limbs and have inhibited her ability to speak clearly. She still has the movement of her left arm. Her smile together with her “left arm” hug is sufficient to manifest her positive vibrations, helping others to feel better.
