“My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:2
Although we go through life not knowing exactly how long we shall live, I think that it is safe to say that, given my age, I am probably well into the final quarter of my life and am planning as such.
As I reflect on my journey through life (body, mind, spirit, soul), I was first aware of my body and how it was fed and watered from a toddler until I became an adult. Then there was my mind which gained knowledge through the formal primary, secondary and tertiary educational systems and cultural environments.
As I became more sophisticated, I embraced the concepts that we are all spiritual beings mastering the human experience on earth and that the purpose of life is to nourish the soul to create happiness and avoid pain in our personal and business lives.
The more successful we are in this process, the closer we shall get to experiencing heaven on earth thus effecting a smooth transition to the promised heaven when physical and mental life eventually ends.
I have adopted the Sequential Evolutionary Approach (SEA) which simply states that in our journey through life we must take one step after another and use the intelligence that we garner after each step to fashion the size and direction of the next step. This is an optimization process towards the goal of the creation of happiness and avoidance of pain.
We often get carried away in the pursuit of material wealth, power or status, believing that these things will bring us happiness. I would venture to say that true happiness comes from within and is not dependent on external circumstances. We are all here for a limited time, and we should focus on experiencing joy and fulfilment during our time on earth.
To achieve this goal, we need to cultivate positive qualities like ambition, self-confidence, good relationships and family security while aggressively dispelling negative emotions like anger, envy, fear, guilt, hate, jealousy, sadness, worry, and anxiety. By doing so, we can create a positive and supportive environment that fosters happiness and well-being.
In business, this means creating a culture of positivity and collaboration, where employees and associates feel valued and supported. Instead of focusing on competition and individual achievement, we should strive to build strong teams that work together towards a common goal. This not only leads to better results but also improves employee satisfaction and retention.
Similarly, in our personal lives, we should focus on building strong relationships with family and friends, rather than pursuing superficial pleasures. By investing in these connections, we can create a support network that helps us navigate the ups and downs of life and find meaning and purpose.
Lastly, we need to prepare for a smooth transition when the body and mind expire. While death is a natural part of life, it can be a source of fear and anxiety for many.
Accentuate the positives and eliminate the negatives in our business and personal lives thus embracing the concept of Heaven on Earth by taking care of our physical and mental health, creating a more fulfilling and meaningful existence and sense of peace and acceptance about our eventual passing and a smooth transition to heaven.
